Naomi’s Golf Skills Development and Training
In December 2024 work began on an updated swing for Naom Wafula, the Kenyan Ladies number 1 amateur golfer and member of the Vipingo Ridge team.
Working closely with PGA Professional, Advanced Fellow and Resort Manager David Marsh, Naomi has been on a break from competitions for two-months while working on her game.
As she prepares now for the 2025 season, if you would like to join the team and sponsor Naomi there are branding and social benefits from working with such a talent. She is a great brand ambassador for Vipingo Ridge and you too can benefit from supporting her. Please contact events@vipingoridge.com and we will connect you.
Here we hear from the lady herself on her progress and what 2025 has in store from this determined sportswoman.
Progress Report on my Two-month Tournament Break
In January and February 2025, I have taken a strategic break from major tournaments to focus on improving my game, enhancing my physical strength, and expanding my network within the golf community.
This period has been instrumental in refining my skills and preparing me for the busy tournaments schedule ahead.
Training and Skills Development
My training has been around strength training in the gym which is helping me build the endurance and power needed for high level competition. I have documented much of my journey on my growing social media accounts.
Additionally, I have been utilizing the GCQuad eqiupment at the PGA Academy to analyse my swing.
Under the guidance of PGA Professional David Marsh, I have been making key adjustments to my swing path, ensuring better control and efficiency on the course.
Exposure and Networking at Vipingo Ridge
During this time, I have had the opportunity to play and interact with tourists visiting Vipingo Ridge, gaining valuable exposure and building connections.
I have also been actively engaging with some Vipingo Ridge members, playing rounds with them while seeking potential sponsorships for my tournaments. Many of these members hold influential positions and have extensive networks, which could open doors for future opportunities in my golfing career.
I am grateful for the opportunities and support so far.
Coaching and Mentorship
At one point in my journey I was selling chips on the side of the road, so I truly appreciate how important it is to be give na chance.
It is one of the reasons I am so passionate about supporting future golf talent and helping local kids experience what golf can mean to your personal development.
In January, I coached children of Vipingo Ridge members, guiding them in their golf development.
Additionally, on February 4th, we continued the local schools training program at Vipingo Ridge. I am proud to be a part of this work to develop golf talent in the local community. Throughout 2024 I was a part of the team meeing and coaching over 100 pupils from the loca schools, identifying talent for us to focus on in 2025.
Our first 2025 session included five pupils from Vipingo Primary School.
On February 11th, we had 13 children from Chodari Primary School, selecting two promising kids to continue in the program.
With Vipingo Central and Gongoni Primary Schools next in line, we aim to finalize our selection and have a total of 11 children in the program.
These kids will train together every Tuesday, receiving mentorship that will help them access new opportunities in golf.
Furthermore, I have been conducting complimentary beginner lessons for ladies every Tuesday at 10.00AM, so far having introduced two ladies to golf who now are regular players.
Callaway Club Fitting
One of the most exciting highlights of this break was the Callaway Club Fitting event at Vipingo Ridge on the 18th – 19th January.
It was an incredible experience, and I am thrilled to be receiving the latest Callaway elite model clubs. I look forward to playing with them on the golf course when they arrive.
