The Kenya Ladies team were Captained earlier this month by Vipingo Ridge’s sponsored talent Naomi Wafula for the All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) in Morocco.
Flagging off the Kenya National Golf Team
From the departure with a flagging off ceremony with the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) and the Pricipal Secretary for Sport, Eng. Peter K Tum to a photoshoot with Vivo Women, the team started off in style.
From high spirits at the airport to Dubai, then Casablanca and onto Agadir, the team arrived in plenty of time to practice and get comfortable at the prestigious Tazegzout Club in Morocco.
From there the competition was on, starting on the Thursday. The three women team of Naomi Wafula, Biancs Ngecu and Mercy Nyanchama all participated throughout and scored each day in the top 10 of the whole competition.
Kenya Golf team claims third place
Ultimately taking the bronze medal, after a home win for Morocco and second place for the strong South African team, the podium position was hard fought and well deserved as the ladies kept their composure throughout.
The performance from Junior golfer Bianca was particularly exciting to see, delivering a stand out result of 220 (+4) and placing her in fourth position overall.
The team was welcomed home in style - met at the airport by fans and supporters to congratulate them on a performance to make Kenya proud.
