Highlights of a great Annual Boules Competition

2024 marked the second annual boules competition at Vipingo Ridge.

Boules has become a popular sport at the Ridge, with the club meeting on Wednesday and Saturday each week, and regularly welcoming guests to join in with this fun activity.

2024 Annual Boules Tournament

Our Boules Club Captain, Bizzie Frost, who kindly organised the event, shares her update:

“The 2024 VR Annual Boules Tournament was held on Wednesday 18th December, with 30 participants. The maintenance crew and Peter Horsey had prepared our courts beautifully - we've never seen them look so good!

Each team of three players had one seeded player, with the others drawn out of a hat.

After battling their way through the Round Robin of 5 teams, the winning team on Court 2 was the Zebras, with Carol Hardman, Ants Howie and Jane Waruingi.

On Court 1, there was a draw between 3 of the 5 teams, and after a "sudden death" game between the three captains, the Herons with Tim Williams, Ollly Valente and Mel Weeks won.

After a final nail-biting play-off match between these two teams, the Herons won. They were presented with the Perpetual Trophy, along with an engraved glass each and a Bar Voucher for Shs.1000, and the runners up, the Zebras, received a Pizza Voucher for Shs.1,500 each.

We then all migrated to the Pool Gardens to celebrate and have supper. So congratulations to the Herons and Zebras, and also thanks to everyone who competed, and our spectators too.”

Thank you to Bizzie Frost, our Boules Captain and organiser of the event. We appreciate her dedication and energy she brings to the Boules Club throughout the year.

Coming up next we have a Children’s Boules Competition on 30th December.
