Cycle, run, swim: Sports events at the Kenya coast
Vipingo Ridge is well known for its love of nature and an outdoor lifestyle. In 2024 we were the venue for a number of sports events, and not just the golf competitions we are so famous for.
We have been steadily building our community of athletes, from semi-professional competitors to families looking to have fun together, there has been great momentum and support.
In 2025 we will be building on the past 12 months, adding greater numbers of spaces to entrants, opportunities for sponsors and continuing to create memorable and professional events.

Why choose a Vipingo Ridge sports event?
1.Family friendly
We encourage spectators and making a real day out of the event.
To beat the heat we start early, but there is tea, coffee and snacks available for the spectators at our venues, the Pool Gardens (Duathlons and Trail Run) and the Beach Club (Triathlon). The Loop sponsored Gravel Safari Series takes place based at our big MotoX track within Vipingo Ridge and has a Race Village of stalls and catering options.
We encourage junior and veteran categories to enter, and if the small children are keen to participate we provide age appropriate routes to keep it fun for everyone.
All of our events are in the school holidays too, making it an engaging way to spend time together as a family at the coast.
2. Fair competition
We are experienced in the organisation of these events, ensuring with only pre-booked places to ensure a smooth registration and prompt start to the events.
The routes are shared with GPX files to help programme any devices for the route. We have marshalls and water stations positioned throughout any route, and clear signage too, so if you’re not digital you still won’t get lost.
Our team use an online timing system with results posted on the day of the event, so that you can see all of the action online.
3. Stunning scenary
The Kenyan coast is beautiful. Vipingo Ridge is set within a 2,000 acre registered Wildlife Sanctuary, so there is an opportunity to not only compete in forests and green landscapes, but also to see animals and birds, including giraffe, zebra and impala.
Our events are mostly within Vipingo Ridge, though the Triathlon and Safari Gravel Series start and finish in the property, they do explore further afield.
4. Recognition and prizes
Our routes and conditions are challenging. It is great to see teams and individuals pushing themselves and enjoying the healthy competition of the events.
Every event we host has a prize giving on the day, done prompty after the results are in. We encourage celebration and shared support for a sports event well done.
We have certificates for every participant and medals for the podium places (apart from on the Gravel Cycling event which runs independently to the Vipingo Ridge organised races).
5. Focus on health, safety and wellness
Though every competitor is of course responsible for their own wellbeing, we take seriously the supporting role we play.
We have water stations throughout the routes, encouraging competitors to remain hydrated.
We have a standby medical professional on premises, with a motorbike to reach any location. We also have access to our onsite Medical Centre, provided by Welcare, as an option to triage should there be any concerns.
Every competitor must supply an emergency contact number as part of registration so that we know we have you covered.
