The Kenya Ladies Amateur Matchplay Championship 2024, held from August 23rd to 25th at Thika Greens Golf Resort, was a remarkable event that brought together some of the finest amateur golfers from around the world.

This prestigious, world-ranking event saw fierce competition, and among the standout performers was our very own Naomi Wafula, representing the Kenya team. Naomi lives and trains at Vipingo Ridge and we’re proud to support her.

Naomi’s journey throughout the tournament was nothing short of inspirational. With a focused mind and unwavering determination, she navigated the challenges presented by her talented opponents.

Her perseverance paid off as she emerged victorious and was crowned the 2024 Kenya Ladies Golf Union Match play Lady Champion, a significant milestone in her golfing career.

Winning this championship has boosted Naomi’s global ranking and highlighted the growing talent in Kenyan women’s golf. This victory not only adds to her impressive list of achievements but also serves as a testament to the potential and promise of golf in Kenya.

Naomi attributes much of her success to the excellent practice facilities at Vipingo Ridge, where she often hones her skills.

Under the guidance of PGA professional David Marsh, Naomi’s swing continues to improve, and she approaches each day as a new learning opportunity. Her gratitude extends to her supporters, the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU), Vipingo Ridge who have all played significant roles in her journey.

Looking ahead, Naomi is excited to compete in the upcoming Mt Kenya Championship in Nyeri, where she aims to gain more world-ranking points. She is eager to continue representing Kenya on the global golfing stage.
