Power Tribe Women join us for the ‘Vacation of a Lifetime’

When South Carolina, USA based women’s empowerment non-profit, The Global Foundation for Education and Economic Mobility, Inc (GFEEM) chose Vipingo Ridge to host the Power Tribe Community 2023 Retreat, we were delighted to play our part in their ‘Retreat of a Lifetime’. To be a stage of their Retreat and East African Tour for African cultural awareness and social impact vacation was an honour.

Social Impact Tour

This trip for members of the Power Tribe Women global community was for ‘purpose filled women seeking self discovery’. They travelled from America to Nairobi, then on to Nakuru in Western Kenya, before heading to Vipingo Ridge at the Kenya coast.

This community of successful women of colour aimed to travel with a multicultural lens on this curated social impact tour, organized and managed by Kenyan tour company, Geechie Tours and Travel, Ltd.

Making a difference

Inspiring Founder of the Power Tribe, Kenya Dunn, is a community leader and global philanthropist. Her professional expertise in Diversity and Inclusion initiatives has led her to build sisterhood with the foundation of: Growth, Passion, Healing and Wealth-building.

A significant part of the Power Tribe Women experience was working with the Global Foundation for Education and Economic Mobility (GFEEM) to participate in an impact project in partnership with The Royal Comprehensive School in Mikindani, led by Mother Grace Ngao Kea., The Power Tribe Women were the tenth group of American Professionals hosted by Quinetha Frasier, GFEEM CEO and Tony Kwalanda, Co-Founder of Geechie Tours and Travel, Ltd. In Kilifi County, since 2019.

As a part of their social impact, GFEEM invited the Power Tribe Women to prepare a ‘Young Women’s ‘We-Care” Package for the students and female staff of the Foundation’s community partner, Royal Comprehensive School- Mikindani. This promotes positive health and well-being for young women and brilliant girl students, through the sharing of sanitary napkins, and educational tools and books to support 150 girl students. There was also a motivational session with the students by Power Tribe Women leader Kenya Dunn.

Self-discovery and nurturing through travel

The tour organisers, Geechie Tours and Travel, Ltd. worked with our team to arrange a fantastic and diverse range of Vipingo Ridge activities for the ladies to explore.

The nine Black American guests enjoyed delicious cuisine with views of the Indian Ocean and breath-taking sundowners on Vipingo Ridge’s protected waterways.  The women enjoyed mindful sunset ‘Paint and Sip’ sessions, yoga and massages, and energising hikes and cycling around our Wildlife Sanctuary.

Helping women unlock their potential

The CECM for Trade, Tourism Promotion and Cooperative Development Hon. Clara Chonga and the Deputy Governor of Kilifi County H.E. Hon. Flora Mbetsa Chibule hosted a special ‘Power-Building for Women in the Kenyan Riviera’ Luncheon for US guests traveling with the Power Tribe Community and GFEEM at Vipingo Ridge in our Sundowner events space.

Connections were made and as these amazing women came together to promote positive change with great passion.
