What a wonderful weekend memorial golf tournament

We were delighted to welcome back the Christopher Seex Memorial Golf tournament, raising money for the Mombasa Branch of the KSPCA on Saturday 8th October.

This tournament is organised by the Tamarind Group, a great assembling of players and social participants in an event with fantastic prizes and sponsors.

There was even a hole-in-one prize for the 8th hole, with a car provided by Sean Garsten Motors. Our very own golf talent Tatiana missed out on the prize in dramatic fashion - losing out by only a couple of inches.

Golf and Dawas

There were 65 players competing on the PGA Baobab Course and once play finished they were in for a real treat.

It wouldn’t be a Tamarind event without their signature Dawa cocktail, and guests were treated to this ‘medicine’ before enjoying delicious sushi. Lunch continued with an excellent Vipingo Ridge curry lunch at our Sundowner events space.

And the winner is…

She may not have won the car, but with 37 points 17 year old Tatiana Genevieve was the overall winner. For her prize, organiser Jane Seex presented her with a magnificent sculpture of the national bird of Kenya, the lilac breasted roller.

This stunning piece was hand crafted by gifted local artist Roger Jessop.

The runner up, also with 37 points was Chris Wilson.

The Best First 9 was David Williamson.

The Best Second 9 was Ushwin Khanna.

Fundraising for KSPCA

This event was for a very worthy cause. Rachel Griffith from the KSPCA gave a moving speech about the desperate conditions some of the animals are in when they get to the rescue.

The total funds raised by the golfers and sponsors was around 480,000 KSH. Thank you to everyone that contributed so generously.

Take a look at a few photos from the event:
