A hub of activity in the great outdoors

Our PGA Baobab Golf Course is only one of the many activities at Vipingo Ridge. We have activities on land, the ocean and even in the sky to help you make most of the Kenya coast.

Activities at Vipingo Ridge make the most of the area’s beautiful clear waters, wild nature trails and more

On the Ridge

Above the sisal farm a rewilded paradise awaits. Our Sundowner sports bar is the start of walking and cycling trails, and home to our tennis and boules courts. All activities can be booked through our Reception team reservations@vipingoridge.com

Wildlife Safaris at Vipingo Ridge

Within Vipingo Ridge we have an unspoiled haven of natural beauty, our Wildlife Sanctuary. It is home to an assortment of remarkable wildlife species from the noble Oryxes, graceful zebras and regal elands, to sunbathing monitor lizards and many many bird species.

These magnificent animals coexist harmoniously within our sanctuary, and are free to roam across the estate. All the residents of Vipingo Ridge extend an invitation to local and international travellers eager to embark on a transcendent journey into the heart of African wildlife.

Cycling

Explore the ridge on two wheels by cycling paths within the estate. Or, for the more adventurous, carve fresh trails through sun-kissed landscape further afield.

Lose yourself in the wilderness on two wheels, get back to nature and reconnect to you. Riding solo is a wonderful way to exercise your legs and clear the mind, and here on the Ridge, you’ll feel safe at every turn.

There are regular cyclists at Vipingo Ridge who are happy to host fellow enthusiasts. If you’re staying at the Ridge or a resident interested in joining their ride, please see the link below.

Bikes are available to rent at the Sundowner, arranged through our Reception team.

Pony trekking

Experience classic horseback riding on beautiful nature trails within our secure estate. You can take a sunrise ride through the Wildlife Sanctuary or the mango forest. The stables at Vipingo Ridge are built in Swahili style and provide accommodation for 11 ponies, all gentle natured and great with kids. We have a strict weight limit of 60kg for riders.

Horse riding is booked out per hour and we recommend taking the ponies out early in the morning or later in the afternoon so it’s not too hot for you or them. Explore our network of beautiful nature trails by the Chodari Dam.
Our syces are very experienced riders and handlers and can chaperone your rides should you need.

Tennis

There are two tennis courts at Vipingo Ridge situated at The Sundowner, a short walk from the Clubhouse.

Have a casual knock about with friends or book on to a training session with our resident coach to upgrade your skill.

Our all-weather courts welcome all ages and abilities to have a knock about. Every Wednesday and Saturday, there is a friendly game for anyone who wants to join in from 4.30pm. A social and healthy activity for all.

Hikes and walks at Vipingo Ridge

There is much more to Vipingo Ridge’s landscape than a manicured golf course. Hiking adventures take you along nature trails and through wild terrain. Highlights include the mango forest and Chodari Dam.

Don’t fancy walking alone? Walking with Rangers is an exciting afternoon wandering across the estate game spotting with the resident rangers who teach everyone about the wildlife they pass by.

The hikes can be a morning walk or go through the Sanctuary and ending up at the Chodari Dam for sundowners where tales from the day can be shared.

At the Beach

A short drive down from the Ridge and you arrive at white sands on the Indian Ocean - home to the Vipingo Ridge Beach Club. Restaurant, bar and watersports centre, we also have a number of partners who help to create wonderful experiences for our guests.

Kuruwitu Marine Park Activities

Our oceans are taken for granted, but they are under threat from climate change, pollution and overfishing.

Kenya is known for its wildlife safaris and beaches. Our partner Oceans Alive Trust offer twist on this, an “aquatic safari”.

Based at the Vipingo Ridge Beach Club, why not explore this important project? By joining their activities you are directly supporting their project and create an unforgettable experience for all the family.
