Art Exhibition: A-free-kan Canvasations

Art Exhibition at Vipingo Ridge

As we approach Africa Day on May 25th, the art community wish to have a ‘canvasation’ on what Afrikan freedoms and liberation looks like from their own perspective.
Mystic Breed together with Tewa Arts brings to you a vibrant collection of 8 different artists from the region. Chosen artists are particularly from the regions needing attention as they struggle with maintaining peace in their beloved Nations. Artists exhibiting are mainly from Sudan, Ethiopia and Kenya with a minimum of 4 pieces each totalling to 32 art pieces that will be available for sale if anyone should wish to purchase.

Activities

Friday 24th May - Clubnight Launch Event

From 6:30PM we invite you to join a very special Clubnight as we open a new exhibition.

In honour of Africa Day on May 25th we will celebrate African liberation. With African themed music, food and dress code, the artists and guests will get a chance to mingle and discuss in depth the works displayed and what liberation looks and feels like to an Afrikan. We encourage all of our members to give a nod to the theme of the evening in their outfits. Please let us know if you intend to attend so we can prepare:

Saturday 25th May - Africa Day Workshops - Clubhouse

We would love to also give the artists an opportunity to engage interested parties in art workshops. These will include Pot Painting and Mirror workshops where guests will be able to take something they created home with them and give the artists a means to earn from the activities.

It is important to note that many of these artists from neighbouring countries are taking refuge and are domiciled in Kenya and art is their means of survival due to political unrest in their own countries. The organisers intentially curated the exhibition in solidarity for this purpose.

The art will remain on show during the half term holiday to help as many members and guests experience the exhibition as possible. Thank you to Mystic Breed together with Tewa Arts for their work to bring this unique cultural event to Vipingo Ridge.

We welcome these artists and support their expression of liberation, and all art sale proceeds go directly to the artists. If you have any questions about the event please contact the events team:
