Our Land Our Freedom

At the Clubhouse Rooftop from 7:30PM we will be screening a new documentary by a filmmaker from Kilifi, Zippy Kimundu and her fellow filmmaker, Meena Nanji.

Experience an important International Film made by a Kilifi film maker

This is an exclusive opportunity to experience the film right after its official debut at the Nairobi Film Festival, where its screening will mark a powerful homecoming following a successful year of an international festival run, next the film moves to The New Orleans Film Festival, Germany and South Korea.

Powerful, personal and impactful content

The documentary is anchored by the profound mother-daughter bond between Wanjugu Kimathi and her mother Mukami, the story explores the lingering impacts of colonialism on land rights and historical justice. This deeply personal connection serves as the film's heart and adds a unique, intimate layer to the broader historical narrative.

The film, which took 8 years to make, follows Wanjugu as she embarks on an emotional journey to uncover Kenya's true colonial history, supported by other Land Rights Activists.

This is strictly adults only due to the nature of the content.
