In a competitive display of skill and determination, Naomi Wafula, Kenya's rising golf star, showcased her talent at the recent NCBA TransNzoia Championship held in her hometown of Kitale. Despite being the only female competitor in the event, Naomi a tied 8th place, marking another milestone in her burgeoning career.

With her best rank in the World Amateur Golf Rankings previously standing at 928th, Naomi is determined to climb the ranks of international golf.

Competing alongside male players, Naomi raised her game to match the intensity of her counterparts, drawing energy from their prowess. Her ability to hold her own in a male-dominated field speaks volumes about her skill and resilience. The top 15 won cash prizes.

Pledging Support: A Charitable Gesture

In a commendable gesture, Naomi pledged to donate half of her winnings to an orphanage in Kilifi, exemplifying her generosity beyond the golf course and her support to the local communities around Vipingo Ridge, Kilifi County where she resides.

Reflecting on her experience, Naomi admitted to facing challenges during the tournament, particularly with short putts. However, she maintained her composure, focusing on the next shot and overcoming any obstacles with unwavering determination.

Speaking about her performance, Naomi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete and credited her success to hard work and support from sponsors, including Vipingo Ridge. She also thanked the Kenya Golf Union (KGU) and Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) for their continued support of women's golf in the country.

With uncertainty looming over future tournaments due to heavy rains and course closures in Nairobi, Naomi remains undeterred in her pursuit of excellence. She vows to continue honing her skills and looks forward to representing Kenya on the international stage.
