World Environment Day - Tree Planting

Join us this World Environment Day 2024 as we continue to do our part.

The theme for this year is restoration, desertification, and drought resilience, marking the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification. The degradation of the land and decline of ecosystems across the world is well documented and at Vipingo Ridge we have a number of environmental initiatives, including restoring our former sisal farm to a Kenyan coastal habitat.

One of the key activities within our habitat restoration work is planting native trees and plants. If you would like to support us with supplying trees, or donating your time for planting a tree this World Environment Day please get in touch.

Thank you to our partners joining us for the activities we have planned tomorrow.

Youth-led organisations Able Dreams Community, a Community Based Organisation (CBO) working to empower those living with disabilities, and the newly launched Kilifi Innovation Hub, a CBO focussed on making sustainability innovations a reality will be joining us to plant native trees, alongside Kilifi County officials and sponsor Ecobank.

Walk, Clean-Up, and Educational Talks

Join us for a comprehensive walk and clean-up, featuring engaging educational talks on environmental conservation. This activity aims to deepen your understanding and appreciation of the ecosystem. As we walk, we'll carry garbage bags to collect litter, helping to keep the area clean and demonstrating our commitment to sustainability.

Tree Planting

Our walk will conclude with a tree planting session. Each participant will have the opportunity to plant one of the 38 tree seedlings from our nursery. It's crucial that we all commit to caring for these trees, especially given the recent lack of rain.

Come and enjoy a fulfilling activity while making a positive impact on the environment.
