World Ocean Day

Each year on 8th June it is World Ocean Day: One Ocean, One Climate, One Future - Together.

In 2024 the theme is Catalyzing Action for Our Ocean & Climate.

We are working with our partners Oceans Alive Trust, the Beach Management Unit (BMU) and the Kuruwitu Community Based Organisation (CBO) KCWA to help to promote their amazing work by raising awareness of their project work, successes and the future.

We have two activities prepared, and guests and members are welcome to join one or both of the activities as we go behind the scenes for this unique view of the Kuruwitu Marine Sanctuary and beyond.

Part 1 - Learn more about Oceans Alive operations at the Beach Club

3:00PM - Arrival at Vipingo Ridge Beach Club and introduction to the Oceans Alive Offices, followed by a tour of the Coral project and a tour of the Kitchen Gardens project by members of the community. This activity is usually chargeable, but for this special day will be free of charge to registered guests.

Food and drinks specials will be available between activities at the Beach Bar that will be open from 12:00PM until late.

Part 2 - Oceans Alive Trust Film Night

6:00PM - Join us for an evening with the team of Oceans Alive to understand more about the underwater world through film. See Oceans Alive exclusive content and meet the people making waves in the restoration of marine habitats.

6:45PM - Films and presentations begin, lasting until around 8PM

Complimentary popcorn will be available during the screening.

This is an opportunity to learn more about the incredible work that has been globally recognised and understand more about the challenges our environment faces, in an amazing ocean-front setting.

The Beach Bar will be open all day for food and drinks as usual, with these activities creating an opportunity to understand more about the globally pioneering work on World Ocean Day.
