Mazingira Day with Collaborative Beach Clean Up

In honor of Mazingira Day, Vipingo Ridge partnered with local conservation groups and schools for a successful beach clean-up, collecting 161 kgs of waste. The event saw collaboration between Shariani Primary School, Kuruwitu Youth Conservation CBO, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Oceans Alive, Bureni Conservation Group, and Kuruwitu BMU. Special guest Mr. Adan Kalla, Senior Assistant Director of the Coast Conservation Area, emphasized the significance of the joint effort.

This initiative highlighted Vipingo Ridge’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. Working together with community groups, the effort aimed to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the coastal ecosystem from pollution. The collected waste not only helped clean up the shoreline but also provided an opportunity for educating the local community on the importance of proper waste management and marine conservation.

During the event, the participants were able to share their knowledge on ways to protect natural resources, from reducing plastic use to recycling initiatives. Mr. Kalla, in his remarks, praised the effort, noting that such activities demonstrate the power of collective action in safeguarding the environment. His presence added weight to the importance of coastal conservation and the ongoing efforts to protect Kenya’s coastlines from environmental degradation.

The successful clean-up reflects Vipingo Ridge's long-standing commitment to sustainability. The collaboration with local organizations and schools is part of their broader vision to create lasting change in the communities they operate in. As they continue working with dedicated partners, Vipingo Ridge is steadfast in its mission to protect Kenya’s landscapes and promote environmental responsibility for future generations.

Looking ahead, Vipingo Ridge plans to maintain its focus on sustainability, engaging with local groups for more conservation efforts to ensure that the region's natural beauty and ecosystems are preserved.
