Spectacular close to the PGA Baobab course golfing calendar

We had a spectacular close to 2023 at Vipingo Ridge. As the golf calendar wrapped up our members were out in force for the festivities. Our committee had arranged a trio of fun events to conclude a successful year.

Here, our Club Captain, Richard Frost takes us through the final days of 2023 and the results.

End of Year Golf Tournaments

Friday Club Night

The final Friday Club Night of 2023 had 75 players join the event. There were some excellent results: Chris Everard won with 22 points, Duncan Mitchell was second with 21, Naomi Wafula beat Joe Carvalho on Count Back with 20. Duncan at 80 years of age is a phenomenal man.

Night Pitching

This fun event was held on the Clubhouse Lawn, pitching onto the 18th green in the dark. There were two prizes for the closest and next closest pin.

Friday's Night Pitching Competition was very well attended with 34 players.

Ushwin Khanna won with a Hole in One, despite his previous shots being somewhat wayward!!

Njukia came second and our Homeowners Association Chairman, Phillip Ruto came third, both about one metre from the pin.

Texas Scramble

Texas Scramble

Saturday 30th December's Texas Scramble had 44 players in 11 teams, one of our best turn outs. The day's heat was intense as was the competition. Saleem, Joe, Jacky and Laura's team scored 10 birdies.

The winners were J.D Ndungu, Rose, Ushwin and Abbas Virji with an amazing net score of 52.8 m. The Runner Up team was Ken Luusa, Dorothy Thenya, Steve Wairia and Riz Charania with a superb 57.1. 

The golf was followed by a delicious dinner and a good end of year atmosphere. 

Many thanks to all the golfing members, their families, friends and guests for making the weekend so memorable.
