Young Entrepreneur Network golf success: Bridging Business with Birdies

Connecting Tomorrow’s Innovators

Golf and entrepreneurship seem like a great pairing, and for the Young Entrepreneurs Network Africa (YEN), they are the perfect match. On the 21st of October, Vipingo Ridge hosted the 15th YEN Golf Entrepreneurs Open, a unique event that brought entrepreneurs together, to networkand play golf on the PGA Baobab course.

The Young Entrepreneurs Network Africa, YEN Africa, is a dynamic platform with a clear mission: to serve as a bridge between young, innovative entrepreneurs and their potential to make a positive impact on Africa. At its core, YEN Africa is committed to connecting aspiring entrepreneurs to the knowledge, resources, and social capital they need to succeed. This commitment plays a pivotal role in fostering sustainable economic development across the continent.

Swinging into Success

One of the organisations’s initiatives is YEN Golf, a golf training program uniquely tailored for young entrepreneurs and professionals. Professional golf trainers conduct this program, offering participants the chance to learn the ins and outs of golf while networking and having a great time. The program spans eight consecutive weekends and aims to upskill talent for the sport, promoting it among young entrepreneurs and professionals as an effective tool for business.

At the end of the YEN Golf program, participants take part in a tournament where they off their newly acquired golf skills and engage in some healthy, fun competition.

YEN Golf by the Numbers

YEN Golf has come a long way in its mission to merge the worlds of business and golf. It has hosted 67 cohorts, involving a total of 1400 participants, organised 14 tournaments, and run successfully for six years. Going beyond the numbers, it is about the impact of the connections made and creating golf accessibility and inclusion for all.

A Weekend of Golf in Vipingo Ridge

The 15th YEN Golf Entrepreneurs’ Open was a day to remember.

Young entrepreneurs, with the ocean view backdrop of Vipingo Ridge, battled it out on the PGA Baobab golf course. The spirit of competition was palpable as golfers put their skills to the test.

Congratulations to Elud Nyoike who won best gross winner of the tournament. After a day of golf, experiencing the course and the Clubhouse, it was time to unwind at the Vipingo Ridge Sundowner bar. Here, players had their price giving event, an opportunity to network, share experiences, and even catch some live action from the Rugby World Cup semi-final. It was a perfect blend of business discussions and sporting camaraderie, highlighting the true essence of YEN Africa’s vision.

Looking Ahead: Cohort 67

As YEN Golf continues to grow, Cohort 67 is set to kick off on Friday, November 3, 2023. With each new cohort, YEN Africa brings more entrepreneurs and professionals into the world of golf, expanding their networks and adding a unique dimension to their personal development and business growth.

It was a great honour to have had the 15th YEN Golf Entrepreneurs’ Open take place in Vipingo Ridge and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for this innovative blend of business and birdies.
