Ladies Coast Open 2024 come to Vipingo Ridge

The competition series is ongoing, but with the leg at the PGA Baobab Course completed, we look back on a great day of golf on the 6th August 2024.

There were 144 players from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania entered in the Vipingo Ridge event. With the Vipingo Ridge Golf Committee led by Sue Williamson and her team, the event was well managed and completed on time. This was also a great opportunity for the new golf management team at Vipingo Ridge, led by Resort Manager and PGA Professional David Marsh to welcome the great lady golfers of Kenya and beyond to the Ridge.

The event was strongly supported, with Neptune Group generously the lead sponsor for the competition for the third time, and support from Bank ABSA, health checks provided by Pharmaplus and drinks and entertainement from East African Breweries - EABL with a lead from their Tanqueray gin.

The day started early with 7:15AM tee times and 46 flights of golfers taking on the challenge of the 72 par championship course. The players were treated to breakfast at the Clubhouse, half way snacks and then an excellent dinner with prizegiving, music and dancing.

There were two divisions that played, and the Overall Winner was our very own Naomi Wafula, with an outstanding 73 gross score playing off the Red / Course 4 tees.

The event was a great success, with some fantastic feedback received from the golfers. Many thanks to everyone involved who made this such an enjoyable experience.

Naomi Wafula emerged victorious at the Ladies Coast Open this week. Her exceptional skill and determination led her to triumph over a strong field of 144 competitors, a victory that reflects both her talent and the support of the Vipingo Ridge community.

Naomi expressed her gratitude, stating, "Practicing at Vipingo Ridge was instrumental in my performance."

Currently, she's playing the Karen Challenge in Nairobi, and we at Vipingo Ridge are proud to support her continued success.

TATIANA GENEVIEVE'S JOURNEY THROUGH THE LADIES COAST OPEN SERIES

As part of the Ladies Coast Open series, Tatiana Genevieve competed in Malindi on Monday, where she scored an 89 gross. It was her first time playing on the course, and she described the tournament as a great experience. Despite the course being a bit tricky, Tatiana thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and is eager to improve her performance next time.

Tatiana then participated in the tournament at Vipingo Ridge. While she faced a few challenging holes, she appreciated the opportunity to play alongside top golfers with lower handicaps. The experience taught her valuable lessons, including the importance of taking the game shot by shot.

Now, Tatiana is eager, enthusiastic, and confident of great results as she prepares to play in Mombasa and Nyali on the 9th and 10th August 2024 respectively.

Vipingo Ridge is proud to support Tatiana, at 18 years old, she is a product of our weekly golf clinics for local students and comes from Vipingo Village. Through her hard work and determination she’s experiencing new things through golf and continuing to develop her game.
