Proudly displayed on banners through the Clubhouse at the PGA Baobab Course, the Muema Challenge returned to Vipingo Ridge for the second consecutive year on 27th September 2024 - it truly was a vibe.
Golf Bringing People Together
Golf is a fantastic sport for bringing together like-minded people, and for the Muema Challenge we were delighted to see assembled golfers from Rwanda, Uganda and of course Kenya. The Nairobi-set were once again on fantastic form, and we were pleased to see familiar faces from the Uganda-Kilifi Open in April returning to once again experience Kilifi hospitality.
From Cocktail Parties to the Caribbean
The Clubhouse Rooftop was the venue to launch this weekend of fun, with a relaxed assembling of old and new friends, laughs and a slightly late night ahead of the golf the following morning. The Johnny Walker team certainly fuelled an energetic first evening.
The golf was a shotgun start with players up and ready to tackle the PGA Baoabab Course at 9:30AM. The course has been improved significantly in the last 6 months, from refreshed bunkers to increased green speeds, as well as more definition between the fairways and roughs - feedback on the course conditions were positive, particularly after a curry lunch at the Clubhouse.
The evening gala function was at the Sundowner, Johnny Walker, DJs and Caribbean dress code made the event memorable. Though a strong turnout from the Ugandan team they did pick up the piga mingi prize, some wins for Vipingo Ridge Members on home turf and Muema himself even won a prize.
The overall winner was for the second year running a lady golfer, and we also had a lady winner of the best dressed competition. A lot of fun all round with some great prizes.
The premium event was well supported by sponsors from Safaricom to Johnny Walker and the travel and accommodation at Vipingo Ridge was coordinated by Muema travel partner Sense getaways, who launched their Pure-Travel sports offering for golf events and more.
