On 22nd February 2025 Vipingo Ridge was delighted to collaborate with East African Breweries Limited (EABL) for our new format monthly Mug and Medal competition.

Rose Musau is the new Captain of Vipingo Ridge Golf Club, under her leadership with the new 2025 Golf Committee, we have opened the monthly Mug and Medal competition to guest players. The February Mug & Medal was the first time the event was open to guest players in many years.

The event was scheduled for the same weekend as the Magical Kenya Open (MKO) in Muthaiga Golf Club, Nairobi, so the turn out of players was a number to be built on in future, but nonetheless the event was met with great enthusiasm.

Vipingo Ridge has been honoured to host a group of 29 golfers from Nigeria this past week and they were game to join the Monthly Mug & Medal, playing alongside the Vipingo Ridge Members and other guests.

Weather conditions for the 18-hole competition were very hot and without a cloud in the sky. However the Kaskazi trade winds from the North were not blowing too hard. The PGA Baobab Course is currently in its dry season, making the ball travel, and the greens, tees and approaches are in great condition.

Johnnie Walker Partnership with Vipingo Ridge

Vipingo Ridge proudly stocks Kenyan whisky Johnnie Walker at each of the outlets, including the Clubhouse and Beach Club. The venue for the Mug and Medal prize giving was the newest venue at Vipingo Ridge, the popular Pool Gardens.

Guests were greeted with a refreshing welcome cocktail. The Johnnie Walker whisky-based cocktail served with ice and apple was refreshing and the virgin option an apple based cocktail served long with a rosemary garnish.

Our sponsor kindly addressed the crowds, celebrating the partnership between Vipingo Ridge and the brand, and the bright future ahead. The winners of the golf were also delighted to receive a special bottle of Johnnie Walker Gold amoung their prizes.
