Winners and Wine Tasting: March Mug and Medal
We welcomed the start of the rains and much needed water for the start of the green season.
The sign ups for the monthly competition weren’t high so we took the opportunity to hold a wine tasting with our partner Dion Wines to add to the prize giving festivities as we anticipated a closer group of guests.
Course conditions and Competition
Members had a wet Clubnite Friday, but it made for great conditions on the course as the dry fairways begin to return to green. On 1st April we begin our essential greens maintenance, so this was a great opportunity to get out on the course before a few weeks of impacted play conditions.
Competitive spirits as always were high, as was the form of our leading lady. Beth was winner of both Clubnite the day before and the Medal. For the gentlemen, regular golfer Alnoor was the winner of the Mug.
Both of our winners were presented with their prizes by Golf Club Committee Member Cherry, acting on behalf of our Captain.
Prizegiving and Wine Tasting
The new format Mug and Medal prizegiving events in 2025 are based at the newest outlet at Vipingo Ridge.
Set in stunning gardens this poolside venue is home to the Saturday Sunset Social, creating a great crowd for Members and Guests to socialise, whether returning from the golf competition, tennis and Psdel matches or just looking to take in the sunset views.
With the anticipated bookings, those out to support the Club were welcomed to join an exclusive wine tasting event, sponsored by Vipingo Ridge partner Dion Wines.
The mission for our tasters, who learnt about how to use all their senses for assignment, was to give feedback on a shortlisted selection of new wines for the Vipingo Ridge wine list.
The session was educational and fun, as Louis from Dion Wines took us around the world, offering insights into the vineyards, blends and notes as the guests discussed the wines and voted for their favourites.
Coming up next at the PGA Baobab Course
Our next Mug and Medal is 26th April. The greens work will be completed and recovered, and we are hoping for a great turnout for the monthly competition.
Only 3,500/- green fees for the 18-holes, our monthly Mug and Medal is a great change to play the PGA Baobab Course.
