Amazing performance by local Kilifi talent

Vipingo Ridge was founded on the promise of benefitting the community.

One way that win-win opportunities are created is through events, where local talent can perform and express their creative gifts. Our vision includes the desire to celebrate Kenya and Kenyan culture, so it is fantastic when events can include (and benefit) local stakeholders.

2024 Community Creative talent events

During 2024 Vipingo Ridge has had the chance to offer opportunities and work for local creatives at a variety of events.

From the Magical Kenya Ladies Open in February, an international client conference in March, a Cultural Festival in May, Mazingira Day in October, MotoX in December are just a few examples. We also work with local bands for our regular Live Music nights in our venues throughout the year.

Closing 2024 in style

We’re always looking for ways to incorporate work for local acrobats, dancers, singers and other talents, and on Saturday 28th December we were able to bring these together in a fantastic ‘circus style’ performance.

Our indoor events space ‘the Sundowner’ was the venue and over 160 guests from our Members and Resort guests joined us local talent management team Leta Franchise led us on the ‘Race of the Savannah’ journey.

Auditions for Local Talent

Once the idea for the ‘Race of the Savannah’ was conceived by the Leta Franchise team, auditions began to make sure that all talents had the opportunity to present their skills. Take a look at the auditions process:

Talent becomes a Team

Once the assemble show cast and crew had been selected, with a total of 62 including the drivers and support team rehearsals began to craft the diverse talents into a team. 13 songs were planned, scripting the show, with live band and singers as the backbone, with actors and performers telling the story of a young mans journey to overcome adversity.

Expanding horizons: Research at Vipingo Ridge

In order for the team to capture the subject of their show, express the emotions and understand the feeling. We supported them in getting true experience of their subject matter: Motorsport.

Vipingo Ridge has long association with motorsport in various forms, and for this show the Leta Franchise team wanted to show the drama and action of the sport through their performance.

We invited the performers to attend the international MotoX event as our guests, to truly understand the thrill and energy they will be portraying.

We also invited performers to work the event as a taster of things to come, through performances at the trackside too.

Showtime! At Vipingo Ridge

Dress rehearsals began ready to put on a show. Tickets for the event were sold out as we found more chairs for the walk ins drawn to the energy of the scene.

The show had many different performances creating the story, with more to come as the videos of the event are released.

Creating opportunities for young people

The Leta Franchise team and crew of talent put on a fantastic show. Our Members and Guests were delighted and it was a true highlight of the Vipingo Ridge festive calendar.

The most important and exciting part is creating opportunities for young local talent.

The 99% of the performers were under aged 25. Each of these talented singers, dancers, acrobats and actors worked hard to deliver a professional and entertaining show, giving them exposure to the Vipingo Ridge audience and a platform to continue to work.

Indeed, at the event the team received their next booking, a request to perform this show at another coastal hotel - we are so thrilled for them. The individual acts are also available to book and ready to work. Let us together continue this great momentum into 2025.
